1 Preparation: How to get ready Knowledge of the rules Equipment Conditioning / Appearance Pre-game / Post-game

2 Knowledge of the Rules Obtain a copy of the current rules! –Canadian Rule Book for Touch Football 2001-03 –Case book (1998-99) –Colloquial Rules to the HTFL Rosters/ Eligible players/ 7 to start 5 plays vs. 3 minute rule Overtime Multiple Objectionable Conducts

3 Equipment Uniform/Sweater 3 whistles and flags 3 beanbags –(two red and one yellow) Scorepad and pen 14 pilons Watch with countdown timer Triplicate roster sheet Rule book!

4 Remembering the Rules It is a challenge to commit to memory all of the distances for penalties. So don’t! Use one of these!

5 Conditioning/Appearance Good positioning is key to make good calls. –Peak Physical Conditioning is a must! –A good ref is alert and surveys the entire scene. Look Sharp – Feel Sharp – Be Sharp!

6 Pre-Game / Post Game Be ready 15 minutes before the game. –Set cones/ inspect field Ready your “crew” –Flags/ Whistles/ Jobs Pre-game conference –Roster –Coin Toss –Jewlery/Obj. Conduct etc. Collection of equipment –Cones/ Whistles/ Flags Recording the score –distribution of copies to teams Recording game comments Calling the score to media Sheets are paystubs! –DON’T LOOSE THEM!
