Group Exploration of a Cancer Each pair of students will research & explore a specific kind of cancer. You and your partner will answer a variety of questions and turn in : –A Minimum of Three pages for the report & (4 th page as reference) –A Power point Presentation –Give a presentation (min. of 5 minutes, Max 10 min) Report: 15 pts. Power-point file 5 pts. Presentation 10 pts. TOTAL: 30 pts. Presentation will begin on Friday 10/29 and continues to 12/10 (every Friday) Presentation Notes: 18 pres. @ 2 pts. Each = 36 pts. (begins 10/29 – 12/10) Report + Power-point file + Presentation + All the notes taken = 66 pts ** Xtra Credit Opportunity: Final Summary Quiz 10 -15 Quest. (15 pts poss.)

Group Exploration of a Cancer Each pair will research & explore a specific kind of cancer. As a pair you will answer a variety of questions Write a Report (minimum of three pgs.) 1 st Page: Basic Facts, Statistics, History, and Timeline (Who, What, When??) 2 nd page –Diagnosing, ID Stages, Common treatments, success rates (mortality) Third page – Current research efforts and Case study. About a real person fighting this cancer (Personal - interview or website) List of References (4 th page) Be ready to present your report. Fri. Oct. 29

Research the following Questions 1)When, Who and Where was this cancer first described? (Basic History-Timeline) 2)Who does it affect? Men, Women, ethnicities, and age groups. (charts & graphs to illustrate) 3)How is it diagnosed? Suspected causes? 4)What parts of the body are effected? 5)Key Stages 6)Common Treatments (Success rate of treatment) and Current Research efforts. 7)Survival statistics with or without treatment using Graphs & Charts, Overall mortality rate. (How many people die annually from this cancer?) 8)Case Study 9)Must have images throughout your presentation
