6 Intern Training Programme At present, Intern teaching consists of the following ACLS Twice weekly, one hour bleep-free, lectures Grand Rounds Journal Club Induction Course An online teaching programme is currently being developed which will run alongside the above. This will allow interns to access learning modules, quizzes and mcqs throughout the year.

7 Assessment and Registration Applications for internship registration are sent to Final Medical year students by the Medical Council in April/May of Final Year. All new interns must be registered before the start of the intern year. To enable full registration at the end of 12 months, an intern must comply with the Medical Council guidelines (see slide 9). This is monitored by the office of the Intern Network Coordinator by way of 4 reports, one for each rotation, issued to consultant trainers. The trainer meets with the intern and the report is then signed off by both. Failure to be signed off satisfactorily or the non-return of reports may result in an intern being unable to progress. Please note: each intern is responsible for the sign off and return of his/her reports The Intern Network Coordinator, based on the above being satisfactory, will recommend an intern to the Medical Council for a Certificate of Experience. These will now be issued solely by the Medical Council.

8 Assessment and Registration (2) Applying for SHO schemes or posts abroad It is an intern’s responsibility to determine what documentation is required when applying for post-intern jobs and adequate notice must be given to the School offices. If applying for a transcript, these are free up to and including 6 months from Summer Commencement; after that, it is €10 for 3 transcripts, €5 each for subsequent requests. Transcripts, letters of attendance and graduation dates – email medadmin@tcd.iemedadmin@tcd.ie Copy or translation of degree – email alumni@tcd.ie or go to Alumni website.alumni@tcd.ie Letters detailing internship – email mccluskm@tcd.iemccluskm@tcd.ie Copy Certificate of Experience – Medical Council, 01 498 3164
