4. EXAMPLE Society Worldview Element: This picture illustrates our democratic rights. Every citizen of Canada has the right to vote in an election of members of the H of C or of a legislative assembly as long as they are over 18 and a Canadian Citizen. Worldview Today: When people do not exercise their right to vote they are not taking advantage of those rights that are guaranteed to us in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms Worldview Historical: For more than 50 years, until 1918, the Canada Elections Act barred women and certain ethnic groups from voting and from running as candidates in federal elections Changes in Worldview: Our worldview has changed due to the fact that we value equality now. Everyone is considered equal and important and having the right to vote is part of our fundamental rights as Canadians. Ranking: I rank this element as 7/10 for importance. I think that having the right to live in a free country and vote for our elected officials is extremely important.
