2 Project TICL Overview Technology Integrationist Community of Learning Professional development project for “technology integrationists” 9 TIES Districts and one private school partners $100,000 over two years

4 Project TICL Mission Statement The TICL project will deliver a professional development and support program to enhance the technology integration and teaching skills of teacher-leaders, in the middle grades (grades 5 through 9), who influence their peers and can blaze the trail for improved teaching and learning.

5 Goal 1 Create a replicable technology integration model based on development of technology integrationists supported by a local teams. Research-based best practices Standards-based Collaborative Incorporating lessons from previous projects Supported by school administrator

6 Goal 2 Create a collection of exemplary student projects and/or products and digital stories that share best practice experiences. Project evaluation process Portfolios Publish on web to share

7 Goal 3 Create a technology integrationist network based on the Key Instructional Contact (KIC) model of sharing ideas and challenges across district boundaries. Build on current network Leading edge tools Share with integrationists statewide

8 How fund will be used Develop or purchase curriculum Release time or stipends for teachers Deliver 60 hours of instruction Monthly school visits $1000 to each teacher for supplies Online sites for cadre and network Management and evaluation

9 Benefits to TIES Districts Participating districts will have a highly qualified technology integrationist on staff to raise the level of technology integration with improved instruction.

10 Benefits TIES will offer technology integrationist training to other districts using the curriculum developed or purchased.

11 Benefits Minnesota teacher-leaders will have a sharing network for integration in content areas.

12 Benefits Students will have improved opportunities to learn with technology.

13 Outcomes for Integrationists Able to employ: National, state, and local standards around technology (NETS, MEMO, 21 st Century Skills, Spectrum of Learning,Range of Use) Research-based best practices in pedagogy Techniques for collaboration with content area teachers Examples of integration of instructional technology

14 Support team members Planning committee representative –4 meetings over 2 years –Input for curriculum, delivery methods, support issues Support team makeup –Support/encourage integrationist –Create school team to extend the capabilities

15 Tech integrationist profile Teacher-leaders who influence their peers Work with grades 5-9 Formal or informal responsibility for helping classroom teachers integrate technology in their building/district May be media specialist, technology coordinator, or a classroom teacher

16 Communication formats Integrationists –Face to face –Online, webinars, wikis,blogs, discussion forums, listserv –Network that includes others outside of project districts Support team –Explore ways to communicate

17 Expectations Attend all training sessions Create PLP with realistic goals Explore ways to work with teachers on student projects integrating technology Meet monthly with TIES coach Share experiences with TICL peers Contribute ___ student projects for the database Share experience at TIES Conference

18 Professional development 60 hours between July 2007 & Dec 2008 –Face to face days, online modules, webinars, videoconference, school visits Stipends for summer Substitute time during school $1000 for tools to assist you Personal learning plan based on your needs Personal coach and experts to assist you
