3 Standards and Objectives 2.1 Reading for All Purposes: Literary elements, characteristics, and ideas are interrelated and guide the comprehension of literary and fictional texts 2.2 Reading for All Purposes: Informational and persuasive texts are summarized and evaluated How far can a person go until they break? I will write a thorough summary of chapter 14 by finding the main idea of each paragraph and using them as supporting details for the overall Big Idea.

4 Agenda  Warm-Up and Discuss  Introduce Standard, Objective, and Agenda for the day.  Lesson:  Read Chapter 14 out loud stop to analyze, ask a question, and summarize  Pay attention to Miranda’s thoughts, feelings, and actions  After completing the chapter, students will summarize the main event in a solid paragraph.

5 Writing a Summary  STEP 1: First, read the chapter.  STEP 2a: Find the main idea for each paragraph.  STEP 2b: Take out any facts that are not needed.  STEP 2c: Put all the details—in your own words—in one paragraph.  STEP 3: Re-read your summary.  STEP 4: Check your work. Make final changes.

11 Agenda  Warm-Up and Discuss  Introduce Standard, Objective, and Agenda for the day.  Lesson:  Achieve 3000 walk through  This program is built to raise your reading level by 1 grade level if you read two articles per week and do all of the steps to the best of your ability!
