The cell is the basic unit of life.
Anton van Leeuwenhoek ( )

Single Cell Life Form Source:

Cells come from cells. Rudolf Ludwig Karl Virchow ( )

so…to review cell theory
All life forms are made from one or more cells. Cells only arise from pre-existing cells. The cell is the smallest form of life.

small cells tissues organs systems individuals populations communities ecosystems biosphere LARGE

Living Things Reproduce
All living things come from other living things. For example, a zebra will produce offspring through sexual reproduction.

For example, you inherit part of your parents DNA which determine things like hair color and eye color.

For example, children age as the years progress

Living Things Metabolize
For example, your body needs food in order to break it down into smaller particles so your cells can use it for energy!

Respond to Stimuli For example: your body reacts when you touch something hot or something that hurts. Nerves send signals to your brain that tells your brain to stop activity.

For example Your body tries to maintain homeostasis when you are sick with a fever. You may sweat in order to cool down your internal body temperature.

Living Things Evolve For example, Dinosaurs with feathers - In northern China, evidence was found of feathered dinosaurs that did not fly. The feathers may have been for insulation or looks, but not for flying.
