Learning Intentions By the end of this lesson students will be able to… Discuss the period of Australian indigenous & British contact and arrive at an informed judgment as to how to describe this (i.e. ‘settlement’, ‘invasion’. ‘colonisation’). Describe the views early-Australians had of non- European migrants.

Success Criteria All students have contributed to the class discussion on early ‘contact’ Students have defined several immigration related terms and have begun to use them to understand a source (from yesterday) Students have answered a question by using direct quotes from a source.

Examining Sources 1. Read silently through the first source, highlighting words that you are unfamiliar with. 2. With the person next to you, find and record a definition for these words in your books. 3. Add notes to the source, so that a student not in this class could understand it.

Interpreting Sources (S2) 1. Perform a ‘6 Cs’ analysis on source two. Refer to yesterday’s slides (lesson 9 on the wiki) if you can’t recall anything to add for context or connections.
