3 What is citizen Journalism?  The concept of citizen journalism is basically journalism in the hands of citizens other than professional journalists. It is based upon public citizens "playing an active role in the process of collecting, reporting, analyzing, and disseminating news and information

4 Factors that led to the emerging of citizen journalism  Internet  Social media  Mobile phone

5 Benefit/role played by of citizen journalist  Breaking news  For example the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the day an airplane carrying 150 passengers landed in the Hudson River and  provide information and visual documentation of events that can help to inform news stories

6 DISADVANTAGES OF CITIZEN JOURNALISM  Lack of objectivity.

7 DANGERS OF CITIZEN JOURNALISM  Risk of being exposed to danger Citizen journalists usually do not have the training to understand either the dangers of recording disasters or dangerous events, and may take unreasonable risks in their attempt to record the event.
