State Education Data Center - A Service of the Council of Chief State School Officers NEDPI (2004-2007) launched SchoolMatters.com— the first free, public access website to education data (demographics, performance, fiscal, etc.) at the school, district, and state levels. NEDPII (2007-2010) seeks to continue a national website under direction of the states. Rebranded the original SchoolMatters.com as SchoolDataDirect.org (SchoolMatters continues as website specifically for parents); provided for a data download tool for researchers; organized the SEDC to guide the development of SchoolDataDirect.org and explore other value-adds for state education agencies and ‘light researchers’. SEDC formally launched in October 2007. History of the SEDC

Downloading Data SchoolDataDirect.org – A Service of CCSSO’s State Education Data Center Data Download Tool –Directory of downloadable data files –Organized by state, level (school, school district, or state) and by year –In large states, school files are further subdivided by alphabetic grouping, based on the school name. –Flat, pipe-delimited format –Some files contain too many records to be opened fully in spreadsheet applications, so it is recommended that you use statistical analysis software to work with these files.
