15 Professional accreditations and exemptions
The School has got Investment Management Certificate (IMC) accreditation from the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) UK for the BSc Economics and Finance and BSc Economics, Finance and Management degrees Students can either undertake the MSc Investment & Finance: CISI specialist pathway to obtain the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) Masters in Wealth Management or students on the programmes MSc Investment & Finance, MSc Banking & Finance, MSc Banking, MSc Business Finance and MSc Law & Finance can apply for an exemption from the first module, Financial Markets. Students need only pass an exam in two further modules to gain the overall CISI Masters in Wealth Management. The Chartered Banker Institute (CBI) has recognised the School’s master’s programmes for advanced standing for the Chartered Banker Diploma by offering module exemptions.

16 Modules Lectures Classes Books
Graded modules are typically taught via the weekly lecture and the support class for 10 weeks. The grade for each module come from the exam, typically worth 80% of the mark and the coursework component, typically worth 20% of the mark (to be held during the module). There is a prize for best coursework for each module (£500). Lectures For each lecture one handout and some exercises can be found and downloaded from the QMPLUS one day prior to the scheduled lecture. Classes You are allocated to a weekly one hour support class where you will have the opportunity to work through exercises with the Teaching Assistant. Books We provide you with e-books for all compulsory modules. 16

18 Dissertation (13/6/2016 – 5/8/2016, TBC) You have to write a dissertation that consists of a paper on applied finance or a literature review. How to use data, structure and requirements are discussed in Data Analysis for Research at the beginning of the Second Semester. Resits (August TBC 1/8/ /8/2016) The exam period is done again for students failing modules. !Can happen in the same day! 18

20 Registration of modules
In the postgraduate shared area you will also be able to find the module syllabus for semester A and B modules. There are also a number of module presentations. Teaching Assistant Academic Advisor: their office hours are advertised on the postgraduate shared area in the ‘study support and academic advisors’ section. Go to: 2. Log in using college username and password; Choose the modules (3 options); Choose on the basis of your tastes only. I will let you change at the beginning of semester 2 after the first introductory lectures. “Enter” your diet. Once you have “entered” it, I will check and confirm your selection. 6. 21 e-book Collection As part of a innovative project and with the intention to become “greener”, the School of Economics and Finance provides you with e-books for compulsory modules. The e-books run on the same platform (Kortex) and have the same functionalities (you will be able to read them on and off-line, take notes, print parts of them). Details will be given to you during the *second week of October* when you will be able to access them. You will receive an with the instructions to access them. You will also have a dedicated customer care.
