4 Natural resources based soil fertility management Soil fertility management: Application of tank silt ‘Dung’ based inoculants Biomass plantation on bunds, common lands, etc. Azolla application for paddy crop Efficient composting methds like Nadep Improving Cropping practices Crop rotation Multi-cropping Strategic intercropping with Legumes Live mulch Tree farming and livestock as important ingredients

5 Rainwater conservation measures Conservation of the entire rain water in the field itself Rs.185.18crores worth works were executed Components include Trench, Conservation furrows, Farm Pond, compost pit, tank silt application. Rs. 48,000 per acre - MGNREGS

6 POP strategy Converting “wage seekers” into “net food producers” Providing regular income – Annual income Rs.50,000/- ½ Acre irrigated land on lease ¼ th Acre SRI and ¼ th Acre of Poly crops 2009-10: Piloted with 251 beneficiaries 2010-11: Scaled up with 912 beneficiaries 2011-12: Targeted for 10,000 families

The village Organization provided a loan amount of Rs.7,000/- for leasing in 0.5 Acre land Incomes – SRI Paddy – Rs. 20,000/- – Kharif Vegetables- Rs.20,200/- – Rabi Vegetables - Rs.24,500/- – Total gross incomes – Rs.64,700/- Total cost of cultivation – Rs. 12,200/- Net income from 0.5 Acre – Rs. 52,500/-
