Origin of Lying Webster’s Definition: “To make an untrue statement with intent to deceive Garden of Eden: Serpent deceived Adam and Eve John 8:44 “You are of your father the Devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks from his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies.” Satan = lying

Scriptures on Lying Proverbs 12:19 Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue, only a moment. 12:22 Lying lips are detestable to the LORD, but faithful people are His delight. 13:5 The righteous hate lying, but the wicked act disgustingly and disgracefully. 14:5 An honest witness does not deceive, but a dishonest witness utters lies. 19:5 A false witness will not go unpunished, and one who utters lies will not escape. 21:6 Making a fortune through a lying tongue is a vanishing mist, a pursuit of death.

Types of Lies False Teaching Gossip
2 Peter 2:1 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Mast who brought them, and will bring swift destruction on themselves.
