Simplest form of a fraction is basically is to turn a fraction into a smaller fraction. But, still equivalent to the original fraction. In order to operate this you must divide by the smallest common factor. Sometimes you must divide more than once. On other occasions you might not have to simplify because, the fraction is already in simplest form.

Problems Problem#1: Simplify 5/35 First you must find the greatest common factor in order to simplify which is 5 you divide the numerator which is 5 by 5 and you get 1 then you divide again your denominator which is 35 by 5 and you get 7 and your final answer is 1 over 7 Problem#2: Simplify 20/60 The first step is to find the greatest common factor for both numerator and denominator which is 20 you divide 20 by 20 and you get 1 the you divide 60 by 20 which equals 3 and your answer is 1 over 3 Problem#3: Simplify 50/100 You must find the least common factor which is 50 by you numerator which is 50 and you get 1 then you dived again by your denominator which is 100 which would equal 2 your final answer is 1 over 2
