3 Max Weber- Power & Authority Authority is a type of power that is based on the acceptance by others of a given individuals legitimate right to issue orders or directives *orders are followed because it is believed that they ought to be followed

4 Max Weber- Power & Authority Rational-Legal Charismatic Traditional Authority

5 Rational-Legal Based on a value system that holds that relationships in social groups should be governed by a general set of laws and rules that are created to deal efficiently and effectively with common problems and questions that people encounter.

6 Charismatic Stems from devotion to a particular power holder and is based on his or her personal characteristics

7 Traditional Authority Based on the belief that an established set of social relations is divinely intended
