TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Introduction Embryology is the study of the development of an embryo. FROM CHICK TO EGG is the study of the life cycle of a chicken. We will learn how to hatch eggs in an incubator.
5
TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Task You will help Farmer Biles learn the following things: the correct temperature for the incubator candling how the chick develops inside the egg how the chicks hatch
6
TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Process 1 To learn about the temperature go to the Embryology website. Read the information with your teacher. Embryology website Complete the thermometer worksheet.thermometer worksheet
7
TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Process 2 You will learn about candling. Candling will tell you if there is a chick inside the egg. Go to the Candling Website to view a clip about candling. Click on Candling and explore.Candling Website
8
TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Process 3 You will learn how chicks develop inside the egg. Go to Farmer Biles slide show to find out the whole story.Farmer Biles slide show Read and color the worksheet.worksheet.
9
TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Process 4 You will watch Farmer Biles chicks hatch.chicks hatch You will draw and color a picture of a chick hatching. Do your best work.

TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Evaluation Now that you have completed this PowerQuest, let’s find out what you have learned. Write a letter to Farmer Biles. In your letter tell him how to hatch an egg if the mama gets lost. Follow the checklist on the following slide. Rubric
12
TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Evaluation Checklist _____ Did you tell about the incubator? _____ Did you tell the temperature in the incubator? _____ Did you tell about candling? _____ Did you tell about the development of the chick inside the egg? _____ Did you tell about hatching?
13
TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Conclusion Congratulations You have been successful in helping Farmer Biles hatch the chicks. You have learned that chicks develop inside the eggs in about 21 days. They change as they grow. Eggs need to be kept at the proper temperature to develop properly. Now that you are experts in Embryology, would you like to learn about other animal life cycles?
14
TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO GUESS WHAT Mama Hen has found her way back to Robinson Farm just in time to take care of her babies. Look!!! Click on the magnifying glass.
