8 Dress Code No sleeveles s shirts No bedroom attire No see-through and/or transparent tops or bottoms NO SAGGING PANTS ALLOWED. Pants are to be worn at waistline Failure to comply with the dress code will result in students being sent home to change and penalties.

9 Dress Code Policy Offenses – 1 st Offense: Warning – 2 nd Offense: Students will be required to attend Saturday Academy – 3 rd Offense: Students will receive one (1) day OSS – Additional Offenses: Principal’s discretion based upon his investigation

10 Cell Phone Policy Cell phones and other electronic devices (MP3 players, iPods, etc.) that are visible or heard will be confiscated. Students who refuse to give up their phones/electronic devices will receive OSS. Purnell Swett High School does not assume any liability for the loss or theft of any cell phone or electronic device. In the event of theft, students should file a report with the School Resource Officer.

11 Cell Phone Policy Offenses 1 st Offense- Teacher confiscates phone/electronic device turns it into office and student may pick up phone at the end of the day. 2 nd Offense- Teacher confiscates phone/electronic device and parent will have to pick up (NO EXEMPTION) 3 rd Offense- One (1) day OSS 4 th Offense- Three (3) day OSS for each offense

15 Congratulations to girls’ tennis player Kali Strickland and girls’ golfer Meredith Godwin on making it to the state level in their respective sports.

16 Kali, a junior, finished fourth at the NCHSAA East Regional Tournament held last weekend and completed Monday in Wilmington at the Althea Gibson Tennis Center.

17 She defeated Pinecrest’s Piper Davis 6-1, 6-4 in the first round and New Hanover’s Mackenzie Barker 6-1, 6-0 in the second round to become the first tennis player in our school’s 30-year history to qualify for the state tournament. The state tournament will be played Friday and Saturday in Raleigh at Millbrook Exchange Park where she will face Lake Norman freshman Lauren Gish in the first round.

18 Godwin, a sophomore, finished in the top 15 at the NCHSAA Central Regional Tournament held Tuesday at Pinehurst No. 1 by carding an impressive 86 score.

19 She qualifies for the state tournament for the second year in a row. The state tournament will be played Monday and Tuesday at Pinehurst No. 6. Godwin said a highlight of Tuesday’s round was a sandwedge shot on Hole No. 18 which dropped within two feet of the hole.

24 Any student in grades 9 thru 12 that is interested in applying for the Student of Excellence Scholarship needs to see their counselor for an application. Applications are due to your counselor by December 3.
