2 INTRODUCTION 1 Learn to recognize guests involved in drug activity 2 Learn to identify the signs of drug activity 3 Learn how to accurately report drug activity to local authorities

3 Recognize Guests Identify Drug Activity Report to Authorities Guest arriving from out of state, specifically Illinois, > Make note of temporary license plates Guests paying for lodging with cash Make note of guests paying cash one night at a time Guests extending stays on a day-to-day basis, or checking out prematurely for Front Desk Employees

4 Recognize Guests Identify Drug Activity Report to Authorities Guests who appear seedy, but may be wearing expensive jewelry or clothing Guests being vague regarding their hotel stay length or reason for visit Guests arriving with little or no luggage upon check-in Make note of how long the guest is staying Guests receiving frequent phone calls from people asking for the room number, rather than a name for Front Desk Employees

5 Recognize Guests Identify Drug Activity Report to Authorities Guests who do not leave the room, refuses maid service, or leaves “do not disturb” sign out Guests who receive frequent visitors who arrive at late or unusual hours Visitors arriving empty handed but leaving with luggage (or vice versa) Guests requesting rooms located next to an exit or entrance for Front Desk Employees

6 Identify Drug Activity Recognize Guests Identify Drug Activity Report to Authorities Green leafy substance or residue / white powder or residue Sandwich baggies with green leafy or white residue Folded pieces of small paper Straws cut to the length of either 2” or 3” for Housekeeping employees Small mirrors and razor blades with what powder on blade

7 Identify Drug Activity Recognize Guests Identify Drug Activity Report to Authorities Large amounts of cash Any other powder (white or off-white), such as baking soda (transfer material from cocaine to crack) Strange odors, such as burning marijuana or chemicals Empty 35 mm film canisters for Housekeeping employees Any scales that could be used to weigh drugs

8 Identify Drug Activity Recognize Guests Identify Drug Activity Report to Authorities Several beepers or cell phones Guns or other weapons Packages shaped like bricks and wrapped with duct tape Guests refusing room service for more than one day in a row for Housekeeping employees

9 Report Activity to Authorities Recognize Guests Identify Drug Activity Report to Authorities If you notice more than one of the above indicators, contact your local authorities: > !! We ask that you take no action on any drug activity you see, except to report the information to authorities. We will then evaluate your information and take appropriate action. STAY ALERT!
