LSB NEET Project Current Picture: The current NEET figure for 2009 Y11 Leavers is 9.4% (251) compared to 8.7% (231 young people) in February 2010 and 6.7% (178) in November 2009. A 2.7% increase since November 2009. Y11 2009 Cohort Total2659 NEET Total2519.4% Available to Labour Market 1967.4 Not available to Labour Market 311.2 Unknown240.8

Yr 11 Leaver Summer Transition Programme Aim To support Yr 11 school leavers identified as requiring additional support in order to make a smooth transition from statutory school into further education, employment and training; and to reduce the number of young people NEET by October 31 st 2010.

5 Tier Model of Engagement Tier 1 Outreach & Engagement Tier 2 Engagement & Personal Development Tier 3 EET Support, Advice & Guidance Tier 4 In EET Tier 5 At risk of dropping out of EET 0.3% 93.3% 4.7% 1.7% Tier 5 : At Risk Young people at risk of dropping out of EET and requiring monitoring / additional support. Tier 4 : EET - In Education, Employment & Training Young people actively engaged in education, employment or training. Tier 3 : NEET - Receiving EET Support Young people willing and ready to explore EET opportunities with Tier 3 providers such as Careers Wales West. Tier 2 : NEET - Receiving Support Those willing to engage in positive activities linked to personal development / overcoming barriers and requiring intensive support such as drug rehabilitation, housing…etc Tier 1 : Destination Unknown or NEET Not Receiving Support Young people requiring support from providers who will ‘extend the hand of opportunity using Keeping In Touch protocols such as outreach work.
