Industry In 1943 a moldy cantaloupe was found to have the best penicillin yet to be found Some time later, someone noticed that corn steep liquor (at the time considered a waste) also gave a high quality Penicillin cheaper They were frantic to figure out how to industrialize the penicillin, because of World War 2
8
Health Uses from the 40’s till now Now there are over 50 strains of the penicillin A lot of them are synthetic because some people have built up a resistance to penicillin and some people are allergic to it Since there are so many different kinds of Penicillin and different medicines, some people don’t take it
9
Industry from the 40’s till now In a way the industry of penicillin has slowed because there are so many different treatments available to us In the beginning, Penicillin was rare, and not many people had the options to take it, so their main goal was to industrialize it so that soldiers and the common people could take it
