5 Functions of Tomahawk To give recognition to independent students for outstanding work in student activities and organizations To act as an athletic boosting organization To be of service to the college community To provide opportunities in leadership for its members To stimulate interest in and cooperate with student organizations and activities

History Began as two separate organizations in 1930’s at University of Illinois and Indiana University Purdue Algonquin chartered in April, 1949 First Chapter to admit women Tomahawk has been a proud tradition at Purdue for over 60 years Purdue has the only remaining active chapter

Requirements Must be a Purdue University undergraduate student Must be an independent student (cooperative, residence hall, or off-campus living arrangement) Cannot be a member of a social fraternity/sorority Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher (Can be cumulative or from previous semester)

Pledging Things To Expect -$30 pledge dues -A few service events and a few social events -Learning about Purdue and Tomahawk -Acquiring a certain number of signatures -Meeting new students and faculty -Getting to know your pledge class and actives HAVING FUN! Pledge Mascot
