8 After HISTORY is the story of what happened to humans in the past. The earliest period of human history is called the PALEOLITHIC period or Old Stone Age. Since Paleolithic people HUNTED and gathered their food, they were always on the move. The early Stone Age people had to learn to adapt to their ENVIRONMENT. The taming of FIRE changed to lives of the people. As a result of this discovery, the Paleolithic people were able to survive times of extreme cold called ICE AGES. Over time, people learned to communicate with others through spoken LANGUAGE and through art they painted on CAVE walls. These people were also the first to use TECHNOLOGY to help them perform tasks.
