Language Arts is grouped into units based on themes. Themes tie into Social Studies U.S. History Science: cells, human body, chemical reactions

9 Discipline Principles
1.The school exists as a place to learn. 2.Teachers have the right to teach and all students have a right to learn. 3. Self-discipline is the key to learning. ACE .

10 Bathrooms Students have a 20 minute recess break at AM and a 45 minute lunch break at 11:40. To maximize instruction time, we prefer that students use the restroom and get a drink during the recess and lunch breaks. We ask students to develop a routine of using the restroom and getting drinks during these breaks. However, emergencies happen, and students may ask to use the restroom during instruction if an emergency arises.

11 Homework Assigned four nights per week, M-Thurs
An extension or review of classwork Students who do not complete homework on time choose the loss of recess to complete their work Please sign the Agenda each evening after checking your child’s work. The class website has homework on it. Most of the time it is correct.

12 Accelerated Reader or AR
Students will have a point goal. This is based on their AR reading level. Performance on test are calculated into semester reading grade. Procrastination is not a good thing!

13 Grades Tests graded more heavily than classroom and homework assignments. View grades through “Home Connect”. Progress Reports will go home every 6 weeks. Please return the envelope with a signature.

14 Absences & Late Work Absences do not excuse students from work.
Student receives 10% below earned score for late work. “Assignment Request” form

16 Miscellaneous Birthdays
No birthday celebrations during the school day. We will honor students with birthday passes. Supplies Thank you for your donations. We will store them and distribute them as the class needs them.

17 Parent Expectations Students arrive on time.
Follow through on absences. Check your child’s backpack once in a while. Check homework & sign Agenda Provide a quiet environment your child can get homework and nightly reading done. Contact me if you have any concerns. Attend the conference Check grades on “Home Connect”
