1 Ray Hafalia, Jr.4 February, 2009 LQSD MAGNET HANDLING OFF-LOADING – Rev-0 After removing bolts connecting magnet structure from shipping frame and after checking torques on critical fasteners, pick the magnet structure off the shipping frame at 4 points. Computed sling load = 4600 lbs per sling. Note: Do not lift the shipping frame with the magnet structure attached. LQSD Magnet Structure dedicated rigging hardware provided:  15,000 lb-rated, hoist rings (4 ea.)  8,400 lb-rated, 8-ft web-slings, matched-length (4 ea.) LQSD Magnet Structure ~13,900 lbs LQS Shipping Frame 1,800 lbs (weighed) Representation: 8-ft spreader bar SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNET GROUP

2 Ray Hafalia, Jr.4 February, 2009 SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNET GROUP LQSD MAGNET HANDLING Lifting magnet assembly from support structure Relocate the two 15,000 lb-rated hoist rings from the lead-end of structure and install them at the center-pivot bushing. Torque to spec on hoist ring (470 ft-lbs). Note, CG is about 1” aft – toward the return end of the structure. Remove bolts attaching magnet assembly to support raft assembly. Attach tag-lines at both ends of structure. Structure should pick lead-end up. LQSD Magnet Assembly ~12,800 lbs. LQSD Magnet Support Raft ~1,100 lbs. Return-End Lead-End
