LONG TERM GOALS To enable students to:
empower, explore, encourage, and excel in Mathematics by incorporating 21st century skills. revise and practice all concepts addition add 2-3 & 4 digits numbers think deeply about the mathematical concepts they learn. collaborate with peers and teachers on mathematical concepts using higher order thinking
5
The BLOOM’S TAXONOMY
6
SHORT TERM GOALS Students will be able to:
Remembering revise and practice all basic concepts done of addition Understanding Applying solve the addition sums of (2,3 and 4) digits
7
Analysing separate vocabulary words of addition calculate the final answer of a number chain Creating create addition stories with given numbers
8
INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES
Students will be given mental math sums to revise the basic concepts of addition and for their further practice. White boards will be used for this purpose. Mental math will also be done in the notebooks. Format of solving the sums horizontally and vertically will be discussed in detail emphasizing on place value, exercises will be given for the practice.
9
Vocabulary words of addition will be asked and will be listed on the board. For further practice of addition they will complete the number chain of addition. Students will be encouraged and motivated to now create addition stories using given numbers.

Vocabulary words and Number chain
Start with nine Double the number Add six Answer = Vocabulary words add, addition, plus, sum, total of, increase, altogether, morethan, double, grouping, pairs, carry

Addition Stories Find what needs to be added
to each of the outside number to make the number at the centre 90 45 = 90 34 20 = 54

TIMELINE
16
PROBLEMS & THEIR SOLUTIONS
Unmanageable for the teacher to monitor mental math work of all the students at the same time. Answers will be discussed and peer checking will be done. Students take time to retain the format of arranging sums. They will be grouped with mixed ability. Active learners will help their group members.
17
In number chain students usually makes careless mistakes resultant to incorrect answer.
In each group there will be one recorder who will remember answer of each step. For every sum there will be a new recorder so every student will get a chance. In addition stories a common error which students make is they add the greatest and smaller number. Students will be instructed to learn the fact rule “ In addition stories 2 smaller numbers are added or comes before = and the greatest number comes after = or comes in the end.” Unavailability of multimedia/ ICT lab for online educational games and presentation. Worksheets will be provided and complete website address will be given to students to access the websites from home.
