MoD of Lithuania ordered Lt. col. Jonas Variakojis to organize defense of PANEVEŽYS region. As a result 4th Infantry Regiment was established. In 1919 the President of Lithuania A. Smetona gave 4th Regiment the name of King Mindaugas.

The Training Coy. 1992 The 1st Airborne Bn. BN receives its combat Flag. BN regains the name of King Mindaugas. Triangles in corners of combat flag means 4 liberated cities (KEDAINIAI /10, PANEVEZYS , SIAULIAI /22, KERNAVE /22) Slogan on combat flag – “God, help us – we are the freedom and the honor of the homeland protecting!” Bn combat flag is taken with PRT13 at this moment. From 1991 till 1993 unit was located in PANEVEZYS. Only in 1993 it was relocated in PAJUOSTIS.

5 MISSION On order redeploy (deploy) battalion subunits or battalion size unit into to designated area of operation in foreign counties or in Lithuania, prepare for combat activities and pursue  stability and support or defense type operations, act as separate unit or be integrated as part of higher structure.

6 FUNCTIONS Conduct tactical military reconnaissance;
Conduct maneuver operations; Conduct fire support; Conduct security tasks; Conduct combat support during operations; Conduct command and control during operations; Prepare and confirm King Mindaugas Hussar Battalion combat training plans, organize and conduct units' training; Cooperate with national institutions and agencies, other public organizations which directly  support the consolidation of the National Defense system; Assist civil government; Maintain a close relationship with the local society and participate in their activities; Conduct other tasks according to the order set by law.

Main FSB log. equipment. SISU (pls – paletize loading sistem). The platform can carry weight up to 16,000 kg. Truck cab is armored, bulletproof glass, the main explosive shock wave is directed to the sides and protection against ABC weapons. Recovery Towed vehicle can be attached to the truck's front or rear axle, the front or rear wheels. Rigid drawbars and the main winch cable can tow vehicles weighing up to 32,000 kg.
