12 Upton Sinclair – The Jungle “There would be meat that tumbled out on the floor, in the dirt and sawdust, where the workers had tramped and spit uncounted billions of germs. There would be meat stored in great piles in rooms…and thousands of rats would race about on it. A man could run his hand over the piles of meat and sweep off handfuls of the dried dung of rats.”

16 Illinois Recall Amendment The Illinois Governor Recall Amendment, appeared on the 2010 ballot in Illinois as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment where it was approved. The proposal allowed voters to recall the governor and required that at least 20 state representatives and 10 state senators, sign a notice of intent to recall the governor before a petition can begin to be circulated. Why?
