Question 1: What’s the difference between these MONOCOTS: –Have one seed leaf or a cotyledons –Smaller group DICOTS: –Have 2 seed leaves (cotyledons) –Make up the majority of flowering plants

Question 2: What’s the function of the root of a plant? Anchor the plant in the ground Absorb water and minerals from the soil Transport materials up the stem Some plants will store food in their roots (example is carrots)

Question 3: What is pollination? The transfer of pollen from the anther to the pistil of a plant How plants reproduce The anther is the sticky stem that comes out of the plant and the pistil is the tube it travels down to fertilize the plant.

Question 4: What’s the difference between these Annuals –Live for only a year or less. –Sprout, grow, reproduce, and die in one single growing season Perennials –Live for several years, producing flowers and seeds periodically (usually once each year)

Question 5: What’s the difference between these Biennials –Have a life span that lasts 2 years –Have large storage roots Triennials –Have a life span that lasts 3 years
