Why We Worship Jesus As Savior
John 11:1-27 “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” [Jn 11:25-26]

I. Jesus saves us from the FATE of death
Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” (v4)
4
BEFORE CHRIST: Death was supposed to separate us from God. It was supposed to permanently keep us from knowing and being with the One who loves and gave us life.
5
AFTER CHRIST: Death leads to the glory of God – death leads to the one thing you were made to know and enjoy forever.
6
“Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent . . .” John 17:3
7
In Christ, death now leads to God’s original plan:
1. Perfect love you were made for 2. Perfect understanding of your value and worth 3. Perfect family that you long for
8
II. Jesus saves us from the FEAR of death
Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of daylight? A man who walks by day will not stumble, for he sees by this world’s light. It is when he walks by night that he stumbles, for he has no light.” Jn 11:9-10
9
“When you are obedient
What Jesus Means . . . “When you are obedient to Me, you never have to be afraid of death!”
10
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him [Jesus] who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” [Ro 8:37-39]
11
Romans 8:37-39 shows us that death is . . .
A SERVANT OF JESUS & HIS GLORY UNTIL DEATH IS FINALLY DESTROYED For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, c Greek he The Holy Bible : New International Version. Grand Rapids : Zondervan, 1996, c1984, S. Jn 3:34 The power to do what we cannot do but know we should “From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. Jn 1:16 “for God gives the Spirit without limit.” Jn 3:34
12
If you are in Christ, death has no “say” in your life
“I tell you the truth, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.” [Jn 5:24] “…I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare to place for you, I WILL COME AGAIN, and receive you unto Myself…” John 14:2-3 Where is God: at the cross, with you and coming again
13
III. Jesus saves us from the FORCE of death
“So then he told them plainly, “Lazarus is dead, and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.” Then Thomas (called Didymus) said to the rest of the disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.” (V14-16)
14
Death is Satan’s greatest WEAPON against our OBEDIENCE to God.
15
Death has been swallowed up in victory
Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. THEREFORE, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. [1 Co 15:54-58]
16
When Satan threatens death to your heart, to your hopes and to your head, turning to Jesus will TAKE THE POWER [FORCE] OUT SATAN’S PLAN
17
“In putting everything under him, God left nothing that is not subject to him. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to him. But we see Jesus now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God He [Jesus] might TASTE DEATH [ experience the ultimate power & plan of death] for everyone.” [Hb 2:8-9]
