1. NFTE Business Plan Competition Exploring Careers Curriculum Location: Blackham Middle School Bridgeport, CT Teacher: Tanesha Poyser

2. The program took place October 2010 - May 2011, with a total of seven 6 th graders.

3. Students worked together in teams and created businesses. There was a total of three (3) businesses Star Pillowz, Crazy Chocolate Creations & Chris & Joes Sweets to Go.

4. Concepts Covered: Career Clusters Opportunity Recognition Types of Business Business, Personal & Educational Goals Marketing

5. Each team presented their business ideas to a panel of judges.

8. Question & Answer Session

9. Students were encouraged to incorporate different promotional tactics in their presentation. One team raffled a sample of their product & used a mascot.

10. Students were awarded using the following categories: Best Marketing Best Business Pitch Most Innovative Idea

11. One of the judges won a star pillow!
