Why do you think that Roanoke Island was so difficult to settle? Answers will vary, but should include the idea that weather conditions were probably hard for living and growing crops. This made it hard for the settlers to get the food and supplies that they needed to survive. Answers will vary, but should include the ideas that they did not want their children to be corrupted by the loosed Dutch morals and that there were few economic opportunities available to them.
