Objectives of the Music Education Curriculum l All students will know the basic elements of music. l All students will have an understanding of how music works in their lives. l All students will apply life-long skills obtained in music to their lives.

Requirements l Students, parents and teachers will work together to insure that each student accomplishes the objectives. l Parents will encourage their child’s music education by viewing Music as an academic subject that relates to all learning. l Parents and teacher will discuss the importance and value of music in their children’s lives.

Meeting the Needs of Your Child l The Music Education Curriculum consists of: u 1) classroom learning u 2) musical performances u 3) life-application of skills l The music curriculum gives students the opportunity to learn: the basic elements of music, the history of music, and special skills that they will need throughout their lives.

Tell him/her what how music effects your own life. l Encourage active participation in music class. l Support your child by attending his/her musical performances. l If possible, encourage private music lessons as soon as you can. l Enjoy music!
