A professional pre-service teacher organization SVEA has as one of its primary goals to inform, educate and involve its membership in educational issues It is a division of the Virginia Education Association (VEA) The VEA is a state affiliate of the National Education Association (NEA) whose 3.2 million members make it the largest employee organization in the United States! The NEA’s mission statement: to advocate for education professionals to unite our members and the nation to fulfill the promise of public education to prepare every student to succeed in a diverse and interdependent world. What is the SVEA?

We would like to vote in order to assess member interest in the following workshops: Resume and Interviewing Skills Workshop I Can Do It series (Effective Classroom Management, Dealing with Difficult Behaviors, and Communicating with Parents) The Model Teacher A dynamic interactive workshop which presents more than 30 practical strategies for use in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms How Cultural Identity Shapes the Way We Teach and Learn This interactive workshop provides participants an opportunity to explore aspects of race, culture, gender, and class identity that influence their beliefs, attitudes and actions, and thus may impact how they teach and how their students learn Upcoming Workshops
