2009 Enumeration Objectives 90% of all eligible voters on the list 73% for voters 18 to 24 year old 80% of voters on the list at the correct address Minimum standards in each electoral district Measure through Voters List quality survey Will survey in January and April 2009 EBC will use the results to identify geographic areas to improve (news releases, advertising)

Mail Enumeration (1) Goal: mail to every address in the province with names of the registered voters starting on February 2 nd, 2008 The letter will contain Mailing address Residential address List of registered voters Instructions on what to do…

Mail Enumeration (2) Five types of letters 1.4M with one more names at the address 600k addresses without a registered voter 15k voters at addresses where there are more than 8 voters registered A letter addressed to each voter 400k letters where residential address is not mailable A letter addressed to each voter 4k letters without a valid residential address

We want voters to… Update names at address through Online Voter Registration (OVR) the EBC 1-800 Call Centre Remove names not at address through OVR (special codes on mail-out)

Voter List Quality -- Impact EBC expects that during enumeration there will be: 50,000 voter additions 100,000 voter moves 250,000 voter confirmations 75,000 voter removals (moves, deaths and move out of province) Updates will be provided to parties and candidates February voters list release Preliminary voters list

Attestation of Residence Attestation of Residence forms are intended to support voters who may find it difficult to prove residency University Students Homeless First Nations

Attestation of Residence DEO’s will: Identify appropriate institutions and confirm participation Distribute Attestation of Residence forms and other communication material Provide list of participating institutions to election officials in voting places for validation purposes
