And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” {Ephesians 6:13-17}

21. T HINGS T HAT P ROMOTE S PIRITUAL G ROWTH Diligence and active service. “Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine... Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.” {1 Timothy 4:13-16}

22. T HINGS T HAT P ROMOTE S PIRITUAL G ROWTH The right spiritual diet. “Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness.” {2 Timothy 4:14-16}

Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn from the truth.” {Titus 1:11-14}

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” {Philippians 2:1-4}

A VENUES T HROUGH W HICH THE C HURCH M AY E NCOURAGE T HIS G ROWTH Encourage the faint hearted, support the weak, admonish the disorderly, be long suffering toward all. “And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves. Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.” {1 Thessalonians 5:12-14}
