The Academy system tracks students by the current email address in their Netacad ‘Profile’. If the student has an account, verify their email address within that account and use it. If they do not have an account, whatever address you use when you add the new student is the address that will receive an email ‘inviting’ them to finish the creation of the account and edit any changes to their username and password.
