CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS: RESPECT Responds using appropriate words Expresses ideas at appropriate times Speaks in a nice tone of voice Politely uses a clear indoor volume Exhibits good body language Complies with teacher requests Timely cooperation

WHAT DO WE BRING TO READING? You MUST bring the following to every class: Black binder (lined paper, pens, pencils, highlighter, agenda) Reading binder and Reading Journal Silent Reading book/magazine

Grades Your Reading grade is broken up into 3 categories: *TESTS/QUIZZES….worth 45% of overall grade -Book Report Projects are included in this category *HOMEWORK/CLASSWORK….worth 45% of overall grade *RESPONSIBILITY….worth 10% of overall grade -5 points are deducted each time from Responsibility Grade for behavior, late HW, being unprepared, etc. -Responsibility Grade resets at a 100% each Quarter

Book Report Projects Each Quarter you will complete one book report project Projects are worth 100 points and you have approximately one month to complete them For each project, you will have to choose a book from a particular genre that I have assigned. You will then complete a project based on the book you have read.

General Rules/Procedures to Remember Use the bathroom/get a drink between classes As soon as you enter the room: *copy your HW into your agenda *read the daily agenda (front white board or TV) *have your supplies out and ready Turn in any late/absent/early work into the side bin Keep bookshelves neat, please! Sharpen your pencils before class begins Raise your hand if you need to speak Transitions should be smooth, quick and quiet Black or blue pen or pencil ONLY! If you must use the bathroom, ask me first and then fill out the sheet on top of filing cabinet by the door.
