3 Metamorphousthe is present passive imperative of metamorhoo that means “to change into another form…to transfigure, transform” and in this context, “the change of moral character for the better” (Thayer 405). Romans, Hamilton, p. 681, Truth Commentaries

4 This transformation is to characterize Christians through their lives in the world in which they live. Their citizenship is in heaven, and their behavior should agree with their citizenship (cf. Phil. 3:20). They are to arm themselves with the mind of Christ and not participate in the evil conduct characteristic of this age (I Pet. 4:4). God is their father and they are only sojourners in the world (I Pet. 1:17). Romans, Hamilton, p. 681, Truth Commentaries
