HIV and AIDS prevalence in the Middle East and North Africa is around 0.2% (0.1-0.7%) with between 230,000 and 1.4 million people infected. Among young people infected 15-24 years of age, 0.3% of women (0.1-0.8%) and 0.17% of men (0.1-0.3%) were living with HIV infection by the end of 2004.

UNAIDS, the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS, is an innovative partnership that leads and inspires the world in achieving universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support. Reliable data on the epidemics in the Middle East and North Africa remain in short supply, creating difficulty in tracking recent trends with confidence.
