II Corinthians 9:6-8, 10-12 “Remember: A stingy planter gets a stingy crop; a lavish planter gets a lavish crop. I want each of you to take plenty of time to think it over, and make up your own mind what you will give. That will protect you against sob stories and arm-twisting. God loves it when the giver delights in the giving.

God can pour on the blessings in astonishing ways so that you’re ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done…This most generous God who gives seed to the farmer that becomes bread for your meals is more than extravagant with you. He gives you something you can then give away, which grows into full- formed lives, robust in God, wealthy in every way, so that you can be generous in every way, producing with us great praise to God.

Carrying out this social relief work involves far more than helping meet the bare needs of poor Christians. It also produces abundant and bountiful thanksgivings to God. This relief offering is a prod to live at your very best, showing your gratitude to God by being openly obedient to the plain meaning of the Message of Christ.”

Let the Children Sing! DVD – Step 1

Step 1: Getting Started! Take a moment to inventory how you and your individual students best learn – by hearing, doing or seeing? Consider how you might better use the gateways of learning in your weekly instruction.

Step 1: Getting Started! A number of techniques to help students hear and match pitch are demonstrated on the video. An important first step is to get to know each individual’s voice. Consider how to include tone- matching in your group warm-ups.

Step 1: Getting Started! Also take note of students who may need special attention and carve out time to “break” their pitch while they are young. How can you get music in the hands of your songsters every rehearsal, beginning with step-wise melodies?

Let the Children Sing! DVD – Step 2

Step 2: Movin’ On! Think about how you learned to read vocal music. Was it by letter names, solfege syllables or numbers, or a combination? Which do you think will work best with your young songsters?

Step 2: Movin’ On! Which of the “Boot Camp – Basic Training” elements might you need to emphasize more in your rehearsals? – Projection- Mouth formation – Posture- Breath control – Diction- Range extension

Step 2: Movin’ On! What pieces or melodies can you think of that are simple enough for intermediate singing groups to “read”? Remember to choose a key which requires head voice. Look for lyrics that are meaningful and memorable.

Let the Children Sing! DVD – Step 3

Step 3: IANFLY Consider how you might further your group’s development by: – Extending reading skills – Learning to project sound more fully with unison singing – Move from canons to “do-mi-sol” harmonies – Give advanced students solo work

Step 3: IANFLY What are ways that you can see your children being used as a meaningful part of worship? How do you pray for this ministry, particularly for your students and helpers?
