CREDIT 101: INTRO TO CREDIT 1

STUDENTS WILL LEARN CREDIT BASICS INCLUDING WAYS TO BUILD GOOD CREDIT AND THE IMPACT OF CREDIT ON THEIR LIVES. STUDENTS WILL DEFINE AND DISCUSS THE “4 CS OF CREDIT.” STUDENTS WILL UNDERSTAND WHAT A CREDIT SCORE IS AND WHY IT’S IMPORTANT. Lesson Objectives 2

Breakout 1: Recap and Credit Reflection (10 minutes) 3 Directions: Complete and discuss the “Credit Reflection” handout. Have you ever heard the word “credit” before? In what context? What comes to mind when you hear this term? Why do you think credit is important? How do you build/earn credit? How is credit linked to budgeting and debt? Given what you now know about credit, how would you define it?

Breakout 2: Building Good Credit (20 minutes) 4 Directions: Review the following scenarios in the “Building Good Credit” handout and select two people to dramatize and act them out. Decide which of the two people would have better credit based on their behaviors and indicate this with a “>” or “<” sign in the center box. Breakout 3: Borrowing Potential- 4Cs and Credit Scores (15 minutes) 5 Directions: You will have 12 minutes to complete and discuss the “Borrowing Potential - 4Cs of Credit and Credit Scores” handout. AIM HIGH!

Reflect and Review (5 minutes) 6 Individually complete your “Student Reflection” handout. Then spend 2-3 minutes in your small group sharing what you learned or how you can apply today’s workshop content. Think about: What information resonated with you about today’s workshop? What information was new to you? What information was most helpful to learn about? Why? What knowledge can you pass on or share with family members? Be ready to share your key learnings with the class.
