Agenda  The Project And Why We Took It On  What We Did And Why  Benefits  Lessons To Be Learnt  Conclusion  Questions

The Project And Why We Took It On.  E-Champions initiative was a project to blend our learning with other technologies or forms of media available.  Why take it on ?  To be a part of a pioneering project for the University  For the challenge and experience  To help achieve improved learning environments for fellow students.  For the great leadership and intermediary role

What We Did And Why We implemented a number of initiatives and these were: –Facebook Group SCIT e-ChampionsFacebook –Twitter Group SCIT e_champs –Videos of lecturesVideos –WOLF ForumsWOLF

Benefits  US  Greater Understanding of the module.  A leadership label was bestowed on us and students would approach us for help  We got to put into practice what we had learnt theoretically.  We had fun.  Students  Forum/Platform to relay any issues with their studies.  Informal space to share views and information.  Help on which sources to read up for information relating to modules.

Benefits  Module/ Lecturers  They were also members of the Facebook and Twitter groups. This meant that they could deduce from these the areas that students were having problems, or any ideas or suggestions brought up by students.

Lessons to be Learnt  Good Change Management required.  Availability of information does not guarantee it will be accessed.  There are great benefits in having students who bridge the gap between students and lecturers.  More structure and direction required.  Technical issues with the videoing can easily be addressed given the resources that the university has.

Conclusion  Although we were able to implement various initiatives such as Facebook, Twitter, videos and the Wolf Forum, not all of them where as successful as we had hoped.  However the project was a success in its own right as it was able to highlight any problems or benefits that might arise if the project is to be run in the University.
