Kelp Forests BY:MATT BEALE LUCAS SAMUEL AND DESTIN WEBB

kelp forests provide shelter, and food for many marine animals like sea otters, urchins, and fish A sea otter's thick fur makes its body appear much plumper on land than in the water. Sea urchins like this purple sea urchin can damage kelp forests by chewing through kelp holdfasts.

Positive/negative human effects on the kelp forests Negative human impact on this biome, It has been said that the worst threat to kelp forest life is the overfishing of coastal ecosystems, which by removing higher tropic levels facilitates their shift to depauperate urchin barrens. Positive human impact on this biome, Kelp Forest have value activities that can help this biome like Scuba diving, and kayaking; and other industries that support this biome.

FUN FACTS 1.The architecture of a kelp forest ecosystem is based on its physical structure, which influences the associated species that define its community structure. 2.The holdfast is a root-like mass that anchors the thallus to the sea floor, though unlike true roots it is not responsible for absorbing and delivering nutrients to the rest of the thallus. 3.Made from brown macro algae of the order Laminarials, kelp forests provide a good 3-D habitat for marine animals and are a source for learning many ecological processes.
