Matthew 10:28

God should be Feared He can destroy both body and soul (Matthew 10:28) He has incomparable might (Psalm 89:6-7) He is like a lion (Isaiah 31:4) It is wise to fear Him and foolish not to fear Him (Psalm 111:10; Jeremiah 5:21-24)

Fearing God will motivate proper service Reverence and fear for God can be observed… In the way we serve Him (Hebrews 12:28-29; Revelation 15:4) In the way we obey (Ecclesiastes 12:13) In our effort to live holy lives (2 Corinthians 7:1) In the way we treat one another (Ephesians 5:21) In the way that we speak about Him and use His name (Isa. 29:23; Matt. 6:9; Malachi 2:5; Ps. 111:9)

Fear of God determines our attitude toward evil Lack of fear leads to wickedness (Psalm 36:1-4) If we fear God we will hate evil (Proverbs 3:7; 8:13)

How we lose our fear of God We lose reverence for holy things and fail to give our best in His service (Malachi 1:6-8) We fail to respect God’s servants (1 Samuel 24:6; Numbers 16:11; 2 Kings 2:24; 1 Timothy 5:17-19)

“But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.” (Acts 10:35)
