Support System for D2L Level 1 support –Enhance online web support through d2l (tutorials, online course, etc.) Level 2 support –Support use of ITS help desk services for 24x7 support for faculty and students Level 3 support –ELA support in Colleges Level 4 support –Establish an “e-team” group to provide instructional d2l support

Support System for Distance Classrooms Lead efforts to move scheduling to a general classroom scheduling model Provide all faculty training for instructors Coordinate IDLS training with ITS for facilitators Support for IDLS classrooms will include the ITS Help Desk

ATC Special Initiatives Coordinate the remaining 2003 Summer Laptop Program Coordinate a new Online Teaching Faculty Mentoring Program Host monthly e-Learning Jam Sessions to provide updates on all DL initiatives Host TGIF Workdays for all faculty each Friday in the ATC Host Divine Design Showcases of faculty- developed courses (to be available as examples on d2l) Plan 2004 Summer Initiative

ITS Improvements to Support eLearning and eScholarship ITS Role in the Initiative: 1.Provide necessary IT infrastructure, including classroom technology, the eLearning system, and a comprehensive university web services portal. 2.Provide help desk services. 3.Support classroom technology and computer labs. 4.Provide support for the research IT infrastructure.

Reorganization and Expansion of ITS Support Center New Academic Infrastructure Services (AIS) Team –Classroom Technology Services –Computer Labs –Faculty Technology Support Team will be managed by Michael White In classroom technology, two new positions: –Classroom technology coordinator. –Classroom technology engineer. –John Reeves will become specialist in IDLS classroom technology support. ITS will provide support for the technology in the IDLS classrooms. Faculty support specialist position planned for future; will provide customized technology consulting for faculty.

Classroom Technology UPC-IT Committee is working on developing new standards for eClassrooms. New support model for eClassrooms will allow improved support from ITS Help Desk over the network. Also developing life-cycle funding model for classroom technology. UPC-IT Committee is also working on priorities for locations of new eClassrooms and upgrades of existing technology-enabled classrooms.

Reorganization and Expansion of ITS Support Center - continued Expanded Helpdesk Services –Integration of call center and desktop technology support units. –Managed by Regina Davis, ITS Helpdesk Manager. –Addition of two new helpdesk analysts. –Move to 24 x 7 coverage some time in Spring 2004. Brett Gerdeman will serve as Technology Specialist in the ITS Support Center

Other ITS changes related to academic technology and Phase 1 of IT plan: Appointment of Melanie Haveard as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). –Will organize and focus efforts related to development of university-wide IT infrastructure. –Directors of Networking/Telecommunications and Systems will concentrate on operational and services improvements. Telecommunications Services integrated into ITS effective November 1. New Web Services collaboration between University Marketing Communications and ITS. Web portal project is underway, using the Luminis system from SCT.

Other elements of the initiative: Approximately twenty significant projects currently underway, including: –Complete Desire2Learn (eLearning.uwf.edu) deployment. –Establish high-bandwidth (10 Gbps) network service on campus and externally via Florida LambdaRail. –Establish a university-wide web services portal environment. –Implement enhanced videostreaming services. –Establish wireless network service across the university by 2006. –Establish “eClassroom” capability in all university classrooms by 2006. –Establish a web-based comprehensive Guide to Information Technology at UWF (ITGuide.uwf.edu).
