DT1 Gas Section Debrief of 2005 activities.
2
The Purpose of the Debrief Compare plan and achievements. Analyze how the work is done ? Do we meet the Quality goals ? Do we have the right people at the right place ? Is our organization right ? Identify areas of improvement. Recognize of what is going well I will not mention all activities….
3
General Appreciation I think the section has achieved extraordinary work results over the last 12 months. I am convinced that we have never done so much work in one year, and we never been so efficient in our work as we were in 2005.
4
Main Target Following the plans of CERN, we have to prepare running gas systems for Summer 2007. (This will require a significant effort and strict concentration on the (minimal) essentials for 2007) What consequences for schedule ? 200620072005 Construction Installation Commissioning Yellow sheets are from January 2005
5
Overview Construction Schedule New Advanced …still to come Delayed New Yellow sheets are from January 2005 Hope to finish end Feb. Done Done, test to come Done Started already in Oct. - 3months Will be delayed + 6 months Delayed + 3 months Done Dis. racks done
6
Developmental areas Flowcell calibration and readout: Occasional bottlenecks with calibrations. Some calibrated cells give bad readings (sporadic errors in calibration ?). The Webmas readout will go though an essential phase in 2006. Control rack equipment (chassis, contact breakers, PS, etc.) Some items had been pushed back in time (too far). Important installation milestones are ahead of us. To busy to get all small things done in time. -> Anticipation, planning, planning follow up, priorities
7
Installation LHC sites 2005 was the first year with intensive installation work. We have fulfilled exactly the installation planning that Mar has drawn up. We have met the key dates for the pipe connections done by Criotec. We have delivered in time the cabling plans to the experiments. Good collaboration with experiments. We are well prepared for the ATLAS RPC commissioning in 2006.
8
Testing of Racks …Goal in January 2005: The testing process’s of the modules need to be clarified and imposed on all units that leave the lab. (This cannot be compromised !) …Achievements today: All racks sent to the pits have been successfully tested. We have set up a system that tracks all test results in MTF (very important). We can be confident that of our construction work is of the quality we need.
9
TPC Commissioning The commissioning is completed, and this is a great step forward, although, it took us longer than anticipated. Mainly because the configuration of the new software was difficult. Though, we must be extremely well prepared for the future commissioning’s.
10
Strong points Good mixture of technical skills, professional experiences Real ability to finish jobs to the end. True capacity to handle many jobs in parallel. Good team work and good team spirit (despite high pressure and high work load)
