2 Lining – What is it?  A layer of fabric constructed separately from the outer garment and then joined at one or more major seams

3 Lining – Why have one?  A lining gives an attractive appearance to the inside of the garment  It also helps prevent stretching and wrinkling of the outer fabric  Some linings are added for comfort or insulation

4 Lining – How to make  May be cut from the same pieces as the outer garment  Seam finishes are not necessary  Use hand stitching to attach lining to garment along facings and hems

5 What Garments Use Linings?  Jackets  Purses  Sun dresses  Prom dresses  Halter tops  Skirts  Pants
