4  We are the governing body for interscholastic athletics in the state of Florida. We are a not-for-profit corporation that, while not appointed by the Florida Legislature, cooperates with the Legislature and the Florida Department of Education in governing interscholastic athletics.

5 FHSAA Bylaw 1.2FHSAA Bylaw 1.5  Purpose Provides leadership for the development, supervision and promotion of interscholastic athletic programs sponsored by its member schools. Participation in these programs enriches the educational experience of qualified student- athletes by providing them with opportunities to compete in an equitable, sportsmanlike and wholesome manner.  Fundamental Belief Interscholastic athletic programs play a vital role in the education of students who participate in them. Through their participation in interscholastic athletics, students are provided character-building opportunities to demonstrate ○ Honesty ○ Integrity ○ Respect ○ Caring ○ Cooperation ○ Trustworthiness ○ Leadership ○ Tolerance ○ Personal responsibility
