Overview of the 2014-2015 Gifted and Talented Education Grant To support systematic and continuous learning opportunities not ordinarily provided in the classroom to meet the educational needs of students with gifts and talents, grades K-12, in the areas of general intellectual, specific academic, creativity, leadership, and the visual and performing arts. Purpose $237,000** ** Funding is contingent upon allocations in the State of Wisconsin Biennial Budget Allocation

Narrative Components Abstract Provide a summary of the proposal which describes: –Local needs to be addressed. –Project goals. –Student learning opportunities. –Success criteria. –Evaluation of success criteria.

Narrative Components Needs Statement Identify the primary needs for students that the proposed project will address: Describe the current local conditions Identify local needs using data Attach a summary of the data findings

Narrative Components Project Goals and Success Criteria There are two components to this section: State project goals that are based on the local needs identified in the Needs Statement Clearly describe what evidence related to students will be used to determine to what degree the goals are met

Narrative Components School and Student Participants Name the schools that will participate. Provide the number of students that will participate in each aspect of the proposed project. Describe the process and procedures used to identify these students: - Specify the tools and measures used. - Identify the criteria used. Explain how the process, procedures, tools/measures, and criteria will identify a diverse range of students (i.e., economic conditions, race, gender, culture, native language, developmental differences, and disabilities).

Narrative Components Description of Programming/Services Describe the student learning opportunities in detail: –What are the specific learning opportunities? –When will they take place? –Where will they take place? –How are they systematic and continuous (i.e., not “one-shot” activities)? –How do they connect to the core curriculum? –How do they represent opportunities not available in the regular classroom? –Support how these activities address the local needs.

Narrative Components Project Implementation Use the form in Section VII of the application package. Supply details for each of the goals (from the Project Goals and Success Criteria section): –Learning opportunities –Estimated costs –Detailed timeline –Person/position responsible for leadership and implementation opportunit ies

Narrative Components Sustainability Explain how the project will build capacity to sustain services for students with gifts and talents.

Narrative Components Evaluation Use Form IX to supply the following information for each goal: List each learning opportunity for each goal Identify the evidence that will be used to measure the goal Name the specific tools/methods that will be used to collect evidence Identify the person/position responsible for collecting and analyzing the data

Narrative Components Budget There are two steps to this section: Provide a detailed budget narrative. Clearly indicate how project costs were calculated, being sensitive to State Guidelines for expenditures Complete the Budget Summary Form (Section X of the application package)

Narrative Components Nonprofit Status Attach a copy of the organization’s IRS federal tax exemption determination letter. Please note this applies only to 501(c)(3) organizations. CESAs, Milwaukee Public Schools, and institutions within the University of Wisconsin system do not need to submit this documentation.
