Part One “The roots, their meanings, and a key word.” Materials Needed: Materials Needed: –The Roots Sheet for week. –A piece of lined paper. –A pen/pencil. –A dictionary.

Part One Procedure 1. Write the root. 2. Write out its definition. 3. In the dictionary, Look up a word which uses the root. Write it and its definition. 4. In the dictionary, Look up a word which uses the root and a prefix or suffix. Write it and its definition. 1. Anthrop —man; mankind. a.antropic—of or pertaining to human beings. b.anthropomorphic— described in terms of the human form.

Part Two “Using roots to figure out meanings” Materials Needed: Materials Needed: –The Roots Sheet for week. –A piece of lined paper (continued from part one) –A pen/pencil. –Sheet of Greek or Latin Prefixes/Suffixes.

Part Two Procedure Procedure: Procedure: –Put away your dictionary. 1. Write out first word in Exercises on weekly sheet. 2. Based on your knowledge of roots, prefixes, and suffixes make an educated guess at the meaning of the term. 3. Underline the words in your definition which come directly from the definitions of roots, prefixes, and suffixes. 1. Anthropophobic -One who is afraid of other men.
